Personal Assistant/Carer required for man for support in the morning and with accessing the community in Countesthorpe – Ref: AE692725

Five hours per week Monday – Friday one hour AM call - 9am - 10am

Six hours per week to be used flexibly for the client including three
hours per week to be used flexibly to support the client and his wife
with accessing the community together.

Total 11 hours per week

Tasks/duties:
AM – Breakfast prep, light domestic tasks, laundry, medication
prompts. Short walk which is a priority

Six hours per week to be used flexibly to provide a sitting service or
to take the client out into the community, with three hours per week
to be used flexibly to support the client and his wife with accessing
the community together; potentially this would be supporting them
to attend swimming together or attending a social group in the next
village.

Client main diagnosis:
Client has hydrocephalus - an accumulation of fluid in the brain. This
causes slurred speech, muscle weakness of the left arm and leg,
mobility difficulties for which he uses a wheelchair for longer
journeys, short-term memory difficulties, and visual impairment.
Ian uses his wheelchair for all journeys

Communication:
Client can communicate verbally.

Moving and handling:
The client requires assistance with toileting; he uses a urine bottle (and a commode which his wife will attend to)-

Client enjoys:
Accessing the community regularly – he likes to go to local parks etc. Client requires a wheelchair for distances.

There are three small dogs at the property . One is noisy at the door but all settle quickly and are friendly

Candidate must have a UK driving licence. The client will be receiving a Motability car mid October that can be used for transport.

The ideal candidate would be flexible, reliable and proactive. This is a long-term part-time role.
