The client wishes to work on social interactions, gaining confidence in the community and possibly go to the gaming group at Fearon Hall.
He may also benefit from learning safe spaces, where there are safe people to go to when needed, in the community and where to go for help if he was ever alone and needed help. He would like to learn how to organise an outing for himself, and eventually like to make new friends.
Preferred days/times:
Day to be arranged and likely to be needed in the afternoon, this may vary a little.
Tasks/duties:
Support with creating some sentences and laminate them to put on his lanyard to show others when he needs support or help.
Support with cooking; constant supervision is needed for him to stay on task, understand the recipe instructions and to understand cooking timings. Supervision with kitchen safety management, and with kitchen cleanliness is also required.
It would be beneficial to engage with like-minded people to build confidence in social situations.
Once confidence has been built, the client would like to go to Fearon Hall, SAVVY café and other local cafes to look at in the local area. He may like to look at a gaming group.
Client main diagnosis:
Autism, learning difficulties, speech and language difficulties, severe anxiety and depression, significant speech stammer
Communication:
The client experiences significant stammers with his speech, he feels anxious about this and will try not to engage in social situations.
He will need time and patience to say what he is trying to communicate and can struggle to initiate a conversation; he is able to understand the conversation being held but will shy away from conversations and will give short answers.
He may benefit from engaging in group activities with like-minded people or groups supporting in speech building.
Moving and Handling: No issues, is fully mobile.
Pets: No pets
Client enjoys:
He likes cooking, the college had offered for him to work with the chef in the café, but at the moment he is too anxious to make this move just yet. He also enjoys maths and gaming and currently enjoys playing Mine Craft.
Dislikes:
The client does not like busy places, crowds, loud noises and social interaction. He does not like to be near strangers or put in unfamiliar situations. If triggered he becomes fidgety, rocks, his stammer becomes worse, he feels sweaty, experiences stomach issues and heightened anxiety.
Transport:
A full clean driving license is required and own a vehicle; mileage will be paid by client.
