Kind, young autistic person, looking for reliable and calm PA, 4-16 hrs a week, South Notts/North Leicestershire border
This employed PA role offers the opportunity to work in a lovely, quiet house with a beautiful garden in a large village/small town in South Nottinghamshire/North Leicestershire border - exact location will be confirmed to those who express interest.
You do not need a car if able to use the bus to get to the role, as the client is currently housebound so you will not need to take them out into the community.
Days: Monday and/or Tuesday and/or Thursdays (other days could be considered)
Hours: Shifts are usually delivered as blocks of 3 to 5 hours, delivered either between the hours of 10am to 3pm or between 3pm to 8pm (exact hours can be flexible to your availability). You will be offered a minimum of 4 hours a week. There is potential for up to 16 hours per week depending on the PA's skills and availability. There are also opportunities to cover other PA sickness and leave, including evenings and weekends.
More about the role:
This role involves providing tailored support to an intelligent and kind disabled autistic individual living with her partner, within an LGBTQ+ household.
This is a long-term, relationship-based role, as the individual needs stability in their care. Please do not apply if you are looking for a short-term role only or if you have unstable caring commitments that would interfere with your reliability.
The individual lives with significant physical health conditions requiring assistance with most aspects of daily living (but this role will not include intimate personal care such as toileting), alongside mental health challenges including high levels of anxiety.
Support is required in a way that is sensitive, structured, and responsive to fluctuating energy levels and wellbeing.
The purpose of the role is to enable the individual to maintain a meaningful and manageable daily routine despite their poor health, and reduce the impact of social isolation.
Support may include assistance with daily organisation and planning, managing health-related needs, maintaining the home environment, preparing meals, gentle prompting, enabling engagement in low-demand activities, and supporting emotional regulation. Tasks can be tailored to your skills and interests.
PAs with interests in complementary therapies or healing practices such as energy therapies, massage, aromatherapy etc would be particularly welcome, as the individual benefits from a calming and soothing environment.
The individual would benefit from a Personal Assistant with a strong understanding of autism, complex chronic illness, or trauma, and how these factors can shape day-to-day support needs.
The role requires someone who can communicate clearly and sensitively, while maintaining consistent professional boundaries and being aware of their own emotions within a close working environment. The ability to be sensitive to the individual's partner's needs is also required.
The ability to work independently, take initiative, and follow instructions, as well as good memory and organisation skills are essential.
PAs from the LGBTQ+ community, as well as post-graduate students wanting a stable (year-round) part-time role, are particularly encouraged to apply.
