Temporary position for six months with the potential to be extended
Preferred days/times:
Three x 24-hour days per week - 45 day hours and 27 night hours per week
PA must be able to work on a flexible rota and provide cover for sickness and holidays if needed
Tasks/duties:
Requires full assistance with daily showering and personal care
Requires full assistance with all meal and drink preparation (they are following a healthy diet)
Requires full assistance with daily medication
Requires full assistance with all household tasks (laundry, dusting, hoovering, washing up/drying etc.)
Requires support accessing the community
Driving license preferred, but not essential. Client’s own accessible wheelchair vehicle is available
The client can wake at night and require reassurance and support to go back to sleep
Client main diagnosis:
Electric wheelchair user with Quadriplegic Spastic Cerebral palsy, a severe learning disability, and Autism
Sleep apnoea
Manual Handling: Hoisted for all transfers on a 1:1 basis
Mobility: Client uses an electric wheelchair in and out of the home. There is a manual wheelchair for emergencies if the electric wheelchair doesn’t work
Communication:
The client requires time to process information, which needs to be given in short simple sentences
There are no pets in the property
Client enjoys:
Accessing the community to go shopping e.g. Fosse Park
Walks to Bradgate Park with lunch out
Local breakfast club
Visiting family (Nana)
Being out in the garden (fully wheelchair accessible)
Pyjama day on a Sunday with a cooked breakfast
To wear nice clothes and to choose from two options
Likes childlike, slapstick humour
Client dislikes:
Loud noises (due to making her jump)
Being rushed, so plenty of time needs to be allowed for personal care etc.
Her electric wheelchair being broken
¾ length sleeves (will try to constantly pull them down)
